Staying on a theme of Christmas ‘mood’, am sharing shots from a day I was out dodging snow showers and catching long shadow around the village. Had to show the two snowmen I came across – one reminded me of R2D2 and the other, of that dodgy Birds Eye bear!

Mans best friend… Bert and Barney, out on the common – two much loved English Springers, once part of our family and happily remembered for the great characters they were.

In contrast to the very damp (festive?) weather we currently have, thought I’d share some early morning shots (and a big splash of colour!) I took earlier in the year of poppies, at their best in my garden. Was playing with a very shallow depth of field and really like the little droplets of water in focus on the petals.
Spot the bee in each image, hovering close by.

This time of year there are lots of pantomimes on at the moment and while I don’t have any images of panto, found some photographs I took of a local childrens theatre group performing ‘Oliver Twist’.
These kids were just brilliant and it was a pleasure to be involved with the production.
Can anyone who can list the characters they are playing?

Todays images are remembering two very special people.
Just like butterflies, they were beautiful and much loved by all who knew them.
Butterflies always visit the Buddleia flowers when in bloom in my garden. They move so quickly, you have to be very patient to capture them, but it’s fun and rewarding when you get a really good image… so I’ll keep trying!

While walking through the Abbey Gardens in Bury in Autumn, this little squirrel hops towards me, stopped, posed… then threw a look that said ‘well hurry up, I haven’t got all day’… so I shot him… with my camera!
We sometimes get horses tethered out on the common – so early one frosty morning, I liked the light behind these two beautiful ponies and ended up with a bit of accidental lens flare, that for me added to the mood of the photo.

While out one evening in the summer, I stopped to photograph a field of corn shocks in the late sun – not a very common sight these days, I think the field belonged to a local thatcher. While doing so… a hot air balloon floated over and disappeared into the sunset!

A beautiful bouquet of flowers at home, now past their best, made me think to search through the many photographs I have of wild flowers.
These were taken earlier this year on a trip round a local wood, only open to the public once a year. While there are many rare wild flowers protected in this place, who doesn’t like a beautiful bluebell.
I spotted our guides mode of transport, propped up on the edge of the wood … and you don’t get more modern than this!

Late in the day, but still just in time for todays advent posting! First thing this morning I attended a networking breakfast at Wattisham Airfield and heard quite a bit about the role of the airbase within the Suffolk community, and operations out in Afghanistan. This reminded me of an opportunity I had to photograph the Sea King and Apache helicopters based at Wattisham, during an open day. The displays were very impressive as the pilots put these incredible machines through their paces…
