Advent Blog… December 10th

While walking through the Abbey Gardens in Bury in Autumn, this little squirrel  hops towards me, stopped, posed… then threw a look that said ‘well hurry up, I haven’t got all day’… so I shot him… with my camera!

We sometimes get horses tethered out on the common – so early one frosty morning, I liked the light behind these two beautiful ponies and ended up with a bit of accidental lens flare, that for me added to the mood of the photo.

While out one evening in the summer, I stopped to photograph a field of corn shocks in the late sun – not a very common sight these days, I think the field belonged to a local thatcher. While doing so… a hot air balloon floated over and disappeared into the sunset!

A beautiful bouquet of flowers at home, now past their best, made me think to search through the many photographs I have of wild flowers.

These were taken earlier this year on a trip round a local wood, only open to the public once a year. While there are many rare wild flowers protected in this place, who doesn’t like a beautiful bluebell.

I spotted our guides mode of transport, propped up on the edge of the wood … and you don’t get more modern than this!

Something a littel calmer, in contrast to the wild weather currently outside!

These were taken late one summer evening during a boat trip on the river Orwell. The first was catching the final rays of sunlight as we sailed past the yacht. The second is of the Butt & Oyster at Pin Mill… taken from the water.

It was a very special evening.

Advent Blog… December 6th

Late in the day, but still just in time for todays advent posting! First thing this morning I attended a networking breakfast at Wattisham Airfield and heard quite a bit about the role of the airbase within the Suffolk community, and operations out in Afghanistan. This reminded me of an opportunity I had to photograph the Sea King and Apache helicopters based at Wattisham, during an open day. The displays were very impressive as the pilots put these incredible machines through their paces…

Advent Blog… December 5th

As we head into the party season, it reminded me of a summer ball I photographed this year. The theme was ‘Moulin Rouge’ and with most people in fancy dress, it was a fantastic evening.

Stilt walkers, jugglers, can-can dancers, Master of Ceremonies, casino tables… they were all there. So I wanted to share two of my favourities – one of the dancers and one of the guests… with a very fetching hat!

Back to the snow theme… cannot resist building snowmen… or in this case a snow woman. With no pre-concept how ‘it’ should turn out earlier this year, the snow was just right for building and our very regal looking lady took shape! She stood for many days next to the driveway, looking out across the common… until she melted and her head fell off!

Anne Boleyn perhaps??

Advent blog – December 3rd

I wanted to share a couple of shots taken earlier this year. It was an event that took place at the Horham Bomb Group Museum and remembered and honoured those who were based there in the war. The flag was paraded by members from the Diss ATC, who did an excellent job. Capturing people catching up and enjoying the day is always very memorable.

Advent Blog… December 1st

As we’ve reached December and many people have started their build up to Christmas, I thought I’d start an advent blog. Will try and post one or two images a day which could be anything from a Christmas/winter theme, to remembering particular dates and events throughout the year, so watch this space…

This is one of our garden residents having a spot of lunch and doesn’t need much introducing… forgive me if it’s slightly smudged, but was taken through glass!
