Do you remember that award….?

Earlier this year I was lucky enough to win ‘Best Wedding Supplier 2011’, voted for by the Best of Bury St Edmunds. Well last month at a networking meeting in the LP Bar, Bury, David Ruffley presented me with a very nice piece of glass. So a big thumbs up to all of you who voted…. thank you!!

Sarah’s ‘zookeeper’ day at Whipsnade…

A friend of mine, earlier in the year, was bought a very special birthday present by her husband… to be Zookeeper for a day at Whipsnade. Being a big animal lover, she was more than a little excited and got to see and assist with a lot of the tasks that go on behind the scenes at a zoo. Anything from mucking out the rhinos… to making up happy meals for the chimps!

We followed her as far as were allowed and captured some of the things she got up to. At the same time photographed many of the animals brilliantly cared for at Whipsnade.

Only a few days later, one of the elephants, Azizah, gave birth to her third baby, weighing in at 16 stone and was 5 weeks overdue!

Sarah’s photos.

Burghley Horse Trials 2011

Had a brilliant day at the Burghley Horse Trials, cross country event, recently. A great event to be around horses and an excellent opportunity for some photography practise. Well done to William Fox-Pitt for winning on Parklane Hawk.

Wanted to share a selection of edits – if you go to my Facebook page – and now also on the main site click here.

Not so easy to capture sharp action shots, but improvement was made as the day went on. Will definitely be returning another year to capture this great event.

New wedding photography video…

I’ve loved the idea of having a video created from stills and now have just that, created for me by Iidoo.co.uk

After selecting a few images from various wedding shoots and run them in sequence, they tell the story of your big day and portray a little anticipation, happiness and love from the photographs, trimmed with a few words and music.

Hopefully it’s long enough, without being tedious and just enough images to make people want to see more about my work as a Suffolk Wedding photographer. More portfolio images can be viewed here – Wedding Portfolio.

Well this was a first – I recently did a shoot for Paula of tasteful nude photographs, using softbox lighting, reflectors and subtle use of a black satin sheet. All the images came out well and this one was her choice to have framed.

Wedding Photography – Another Option …

At the beginning of this year, after a short presentation I had given at a business lunch in Bury St Edmunds, Victoria introduced herself and asked if I could help on a special photo shoot. She and her fiancé Rob were getting married in March this year in Scotland. However, it wasn’t to photograph their wedding day, as they had decided not to hire the services of a photographer for the event. Instead, a fortnight later, they were having a party close to their new home in Suffolk, to celebrate their marriage with family and friends. Many had been unable to travel to the highlands for the big day. Planning to once again dress in their wedding finery, she asked if I could help. After a short discussion, we agreed I would go over just before midday and spend an hour photographing the couple at their house.

It couldn’t have worked out better, having allowed enough time, so they could relax and enjoy some special time together. Their home and garden is where they are very happy and provided some good areas for photographs. Surrounded by everything familiar and not torn between, spending time with their guests and a photographer wanting to drag them away at every moment. I recall hearing a neighbour’s music playing that helped the fun we had in that hour. ‘Olivia’ the cat afforded us a little of her time also…

Victoria and Rob’s happiness together is very clear to see and the photographs from that shoot are as special as the day they got hitched.

Wattisham Officers summer ball

Themed parties are so popular now and I thoroughly enjoy capturing the mood of an evening such as this.

While I love blurring the dancers, equally enjoy capturing the clarity of another …
